White Gravy Recipe

White gravy is the mother gravy of Indian cuisine. Its made up of Nickmics cashew nuts, Nickmics melon seeds, ginger-garlic paste & fresh cream. This gravy can be combined with koftas, paneer or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 3 Nickmics cardamom / elaichi
  • 2 Nickmics cloves / laung
  • 1 Bay leaf / tej patta
  • 1½ tsp chopped green chillis
  • 5 tbsp fresh curd/dahi
  • 1½ tbsp fresh cream
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

For Onion Paste

  • 1 cup roughly chopped onions
  • ½ tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1½ tbsp Nickmics melon seeds
  • 1½ tbsp Nickmics chopped cashew nuts

To make Onion Paste:

  • Boil all ingredients together listed in the ingredients under onion paste.
  • Boil for 8-10 minutes. Cool & blend it to a smooth paste.

To make a white gravy recipe:

  • Heat oil in the pan. Add Nickmics cardamom, cloves & bay leaf. Saute on medium heat for a few minutes.
  • Add the onion paste & green chillis & saute for some time.
  • Add curd & mix well. Saute till you see little oil at the sides.
  • Add fresh cream, and salt & mix well. Let it cook for 5 minutes further.
  • White gravy is ready to use.
